Sound Affects celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2018, and to commemorate this milestone, we flew out to California for a tour of the Taylor factory. Whilst there we specified and ordered three breathtaking custom shop guitars to bring back to the UK, and they are arriving in store within the following weeks. We believe that these guitars represent some of the finest features that Taylor offers in their custom models.

Body Wood

This custom shop Taylor features some incredible details, all decided personally at the factory. The grand auditorium sized body has a solid AA Grade Koa Top with matching back and sides. These woods were hand selected by us. The grand auditorium shape is widely popular, as it covers the broadest range of playing styles - big enough for flat picking and loud strumming without rattle and lack of bottom end, but still small enough to capture the broad dynamic range achieved through fingerpicking. Koa is a dense tone wood that starts out its life sounding bright and airy, but as it begins to age and mature, warm mid-ranged overtones become more and more apparent. These tonal characteristics bloom quickly in comparison to other tone woods, and quicker still the more it is played.

We opted for the much-recognised Venetian cutaway shape which is both contemporary and practical for reaching beyond the 12th fret. Being a custom shop order, we wanted to add some flair to the body design, and so we included Taylors signature twisted oval inlays, a luxurious beveled armrest and stunning bloodwood binding – features that match perfectly to the shaded edgeburst finish.

This guitar is a one-of-a-kind design, specified by us with hand selected materials, and was a fantastic experience to undertake - We can’t think of a better way to celebrate our anniversary than this!

We Welcome Part Exchange

We welcome part exchanges on items over £500. We realise that sometimes you need to “move something on” to get your new guitar. We give fair prices and once agreed we stick to them. The only thing we ask is that you accurately describe your guitar. We have plenty of happy customers from our part exchange scheme.

How it works – If you are local, you can simply call in. If you are not local we will assess your guitar and give you a valuation via phone/e-mail (we may ask for pictures). Once the price is agreed, we always stick to it, and your new guitar will be removed from the market so the deal can be concluded.

You can either send us your guitar, or we can use our courier to pick up for a small charge (UK only). Once the guitar is with us and any balance is paid we can dispatch your new guitar.
