We are delighted to be able to offer this very rare and unique PRS Private Stock Guitar, it was commissioned by the first owner in 2001 and built by Joe Knaggs, Paul Reed Smith and the Private Stock team. It has an incredible one-piece curly maple top finished in a 'Custom Turquoise' finish. Included in the sale is a detailed letter from the original owner discussing how the guitar came to be, and also the unusual story regarding the finish. This is believed to be the prototype one of PRS most popular colours ' Blue Matteo.
Any PRS fan can see the similarity between the two finishes, this Private Stock pre-dates the finish by some time and was a special request by the customer and was mixed by Matt (of Blue Matt-eo) fame. There is no official confirmation from PRS but the letter makes a compelling case and the dates fit.

This custom Turquoise Hollowbody model Private Stock guitar was custom designed and handmade by Joseph Knaggs, Dave Hazel, Chris Bavaria and me (Paul Reed Smith) The Woods, including a rare one piece East Coast curly maple top, were carefully picked from my private stock for sound and remarkable figure. This guitar features the PRS Piezo system, which when used alone or in conjunction with the PRS Soapabar pickups offers a wide variety of tonal options. Other features, such as mammoth ivory bird inlay and silver outline, add to this guitars special appeal.
PRS Guitars was founded by Paul Reed Smith in 1985, over 25 years later PRS is one of the leading and most respected guitar manufacturers in the world. Paul Reed Smith was inspired by the classic guitar designs of the 50’s and 60’s but, unlike many other manufactures, wanted to create a guitar that was his own design in every right. Today the classic double-cutaway PRS silhouette is as recognisable as some of the famous designs of the 50’s which is a true testament to Paul Reed Smiths design and vision. We have been selling PRS Guitars since the late 1980’s and have seen the company grow and develop but never forget their core values and dedication to quality and innovation. As PRS has grown they have maintained superior quality, something which they have become renowned for and have set the bar for other manufacturers. The PRS Custom 24 was one of Paul’s first designs and is the guitar that he took to his first trade show and is the model that really put PRS on the map. Nearly 25 years later the Custom 24 is still one of the most popular PRS models available. Over it’s long lifetime it has had many upgrades and changes to keep it at the forefront of the market. Paul Reed Smith is never complacent and is constantly trying new woods, components, construction methods and new technology. The Custom 24 is a different guitar to the model first introduced in the late 80’s but the core values and vision is still the same - create the best electric guitar possible. Today the PRS Product lineup is one of the most impressive in the market, there is a guitar for any genre, style and budget. One of the newest additions to the PRS family is the PRS Studio model. This is a model based loosely around the now discontinued Custom 22 but features the unique Studio electronics and Pickups, a 57/08 Pickup in the bridge and two Narrowfield mini humbuckers in the middle and neck. This is another example of PRS pushing the boundaries and trying new things. At Sound Affects we love PRS Guitars and are very passionate about their fabulous instruments.
